Combat
Most Surprise Elementals prefer to stalk their prey in near invisibility, waiting for an chance to move in and strike using their sneak attack. When working together on missions for their master, they often flank an opponent and wear it down before moving to any other combatants.


Air Mastery (Ex): Airborne creatures take a -1 penalty on attack and damage rolls against a Surprise Elemental.
Sonic Sneak Attack (Ex): Any creature subject to a rogue sneak attack that is hit by a Surprise Elemental takes an additional 4d6 points of sonic damage.
Immunity to Sonic (Ex): Surprise Elementals ignore sonic damage.
Uncanny dodge (Ex): Surprise Elementals retain their dexterity bonus to AC regardless of being flat-footed or flanked.

Elemental Traits:

  • Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, and stunning.
  • Not subject to critical hits or flanking.
  • Unlike most other living creatures, a Sonic Elemental does not have a dual nature-its soul and body form one unit. When a Surprise Elemental is slain, no soul is set loose. Spells that restore souls to their bodies, such as raise dead, reincarnate, and resurrection, don't work on a Sonic Elemental. It takes a different magical effect, such as limited wish, wish, miracle, or true resurrection, to restore it to life.
  • Surprise Elementals do not eat, sleep, or breathe.
