Living on the cold plains, the brontotherium was thought to be dead for a millenia. But this prehistoric beast is far from dead...

A brontotherium is the prehistoric relative of the rhinoceros. A massive creature, the brontotherium is covered with thick shaggy fur. Its head is that of a rhino's, complete with beady eyes. The most noticeable difference is the fact that a brontotherium has two horns, one in front of the other. Both are dull and as furry as rest of the creature. The brontotherium is a pacifist in nature, and it's easy to bypass when encountered. The dim mind of the animal compels it to graze on the lichen and grass which the tundra has to offer. Often when food is scarce, the brontotherium will travel to other places. On few occasions it has been sited in warm areas also. The brontotherium's shaggy fur is meant for only one reason: to withstand extreme cold. It lives on cold tundras and only in great danger leaves to warmer places., A brontotherium is the prehistoric relative of the rhinoceros. Combat
Although a brontotherium is not easily provoked, in battle it is both an awesome and fearsome sight. The beast mostly tries to gore the enemy. This causes 3d6 damage and will leave the opponent heavily winded. Another favorite of the brontotherium is to take speed and slam into it's enemies. The huge hulking mass of the monster makes the slam attack an especially fearsome move. The beasts dim wit drives it to fight the first attacker, and will then concentrate ONLY on that foe. Only if a critical hit is scored will the brontotherium turn to another enemy. A brontotherium will opt to escape when down to 10 hps.

Beats have low-light vision and darkvision with a range of 60 feet.

Trample (Ex): The brontotherium can trample small foes. It can also do this to enemies which it has succesfully gored. The trample causes 4d8 damage.

Society
The brontotherium mates once in a year. This is the only time a brontotherium is with another of it's kind. They are extremely solitary and will not even help another brontotherium in battle. A baby brontotherium is born with little or no hair and is therefore extremely vulnerable. The female takes care of the baby until it is able to survive the cold. The male leaves as soon as it has mated. Brontotherium fur is an ideal material for clothing meant to protect from the cold. Therefore in arctic societies the hair is truly worth it's weight in gold.

This creature has not yet been play tested.
This is not a kender type creature.
