Brand new species for desert regions.

Saeguine (SAY-gwin) are tall humanoids that have adapted to the harsh desert. They are covered in a fine, sand coloured fur and have long tapered ears reminiscent of those of an elf's, but longer and more flexible. Their nose and mouth extends out in a slight snout full of small, sharp teeth. Their long legs are reverse double jointed and attached to wide clawed feet. They have large three fingered hands that end in razor sharp claws. During the day, their sensitive eyes contract to avoid damage, but at night, the irises expand to let in more light, much like a cat's eyes. At night, their eyes glow with a smoky blue light which is actually their keenly devolloped eyes taking in and reflecting whatever light there is. Saeguine dress in tight leather breeches and tightly wrapped strips of cloth that protect them from wind-blown sand.

Saeguine are mostly carnivore, enjoying whatever prey they can find nearby. While they can eat plants, it is rapidly absorbed and used by their high metabolism, so they prefer high energy and high fat food such as meat instead.

Saeguine are excellent sculpters, carving detailed depictions of life in various kinds of stone. These are valuable and provide a good source of trade for the race. The intricate sculptures seem to absorb magic extremely well, and so are sought after for wizards to store spells.

Combat
Saeguines usually fight in packs, flanking their opponents before attacking. Once they have their opponents surrounded, they attack mercilessly until the target surrenders or dies. They often try to psyche out a sentient prey, with elabourate fakes and unnerving sharp-toothed grins.

Saeguine fight with finely crafted halberds or spears, often of foreign make, which have been slightly modified to meet Saeguine standards. Every Saeguine weapon is a work of art, unique to its owner. Throughout a Saeguine's life, its weapon is in a constant state of addition and creation. Saeguine often use the same weapon their entire lives, and some Saeguine particularily fond of their weapons will impale themselves with the broken blade of their weapon if ever it is destroyed.

Breath weapon(Acid): Saeguine can breathe a cone of dark, sticky liquid. Upon contact, this caustic liquid rapidly burns and causes 1d8 of acid damage per round until it is removed by dousage with some kind of liquid. Maximum range of 5m.

Ray: Using their innate skills and kinship with the desert, Saeguine can summon up a sphere of sand, then project it out up to 20m away. When the ray comes in contact with its target, it rapidly starts corroding the material it comes in contact with. It deals 1d6 damage for two rounds, or until something or someone comes between the caster and the target, or until the target moves away.

Society
Saeguines are a very social people, preffering to stay in large groups with their own kind. Most older Saeguines are extremely xenophobic, prefering to stay with others of their own kind and harbouring an extreme dislike and distrust of other races. Younger Saeguine often go out to explore the world, but seldom stray so far that they cannot find their way home. Saeguine societies are ruled by the wisest of their pack, be it a male or a female, who rule until they die or are deemed unfit.

Saeguines trade their sculptures and the pelts and preserved meats of newly killed prey for weapons and more exotic foods. Saeguines have a taste for very spicy food, often adding so much spice into their dishes that it could send humans in unconsciousness.
