Hoopak Mark II
donated by Thistledown Kendergnome

Description:
The Hoopak Mark II appears similar to a standard Hoopak, except that it is made of steel and includes two buttons along its shaft, and sports a mesh instead of a sling.

History: The Hoopak Mark II was made by Thistledown Kendergnome while he was being raised in Mt. Nevermind. Not liking the large size and complexity of use of the gnomish weapons, he instead based his weapon on the notes made on Tassleholf Burrfoot's Hoopak from the War of the Lance, with some modifications. So far, only the one has been created, as Thistledown does not have the patience nor the resources to construct another, being on wonderlust.

How it Works: While not magical at all, it does have a number of special abilities. One of these is that the bottom foot of the shaft is a sword blade instead of a point, the last three inches of which can be launched by means of a trigger and a compressed spring to a range of 100 feet, but only acurate to 30 feet. The entire last 2 feet of the Hoopak are removeable from the top by means of another button. This can be wielded as a short sword while the other half splits into a tripod, upon which the launching mechanism sits. Now instead of using the shear movement of the Hoopak to launch a projectile, the Hoopak Mark II instead uses a series of springs and pullys to launch an object in a way similar to a small catapult.
