The arms of this massive gray humanoid resemble great worms with fang-filled maws. In place of a head, a heavy hunch rises from the creature's back. A tiny red eye glitters malevolently from behind a heavy brow in the center of the hump.
Bizzare predators found in ruined dungeons and deep caverns, dentyrants are foul and sadistic eating-machines. They prey upon whatever they stumble across, attempting to sever the heads of the beings they hunt, but this creatures will slay even if it does not need to eat. The corpses and regurgitated bones of a dentyrant's victims are used to adorn the beast's lair, which is also painted in blood in primitive patterns and strung with entails
Combat
Dentyrants prefer to stalk, over-run, and mutilate their prey. Typically, a dentyrant preys on goblinoids and cavern life, but they decidedly prefer sentient prey. Lone drow are especially prized and receive the hulking biter's most artistic post-mortem horrors.
Wounding Ray (Sp): This beam of black and crimson energy acts as a inflict serious wounds spell as cast by a 15th-level cleric (i.e. doing 3d8 + 15 hp damage) at a range of 150 ft, causing violent slashes from phantom blades to open on the victim's body. Vorpal Bite (Su): On a successful critical hit with its bite attack, a dentyrant severs its opponent's head, just as a vorpal weapon does. Fast Healing (Ex): A dentyrant regains 5 hp per round. Scent (Ex): A dentyrant possesses the scent special ability.
Society
Hulking Biter Variants: As one explores the deeper reaches of the Underdarks, stranger varients of dentyrant appear - four-armed versions, specimens of up to Gargantuan size, biters with poisonous or acidic bites, and versions with additional eye rays.
