A slightly tougher, but no less pathetic version of the Shy Man, the Fire Masks are the archers of the Nightmare Armies. These creatures are usually in the company of Shy Men, Gaunt Flyers, and Soulherders. The Fire Masks tend to be slightly more aware of their surroundings, and on occasion seem to take glee in killing.

A Fire Mask resembles a Shy Man, with a few differences. The mask of a Fire Mask is made of steel, with a tiny red lick of flame lacquered on the forehead. A small round hole is situated where the mouth would be, from where the breath weapon is fired. Also unlike the Shy Man, the cloak which gives the twisted soulstuff of the Fire Mask is grey instead of the Shy Man's black. Like the Shy Man, the Fire Mask has no personality, no desires, and no thoughts. Its existence is solely to obey the Soulherders and other Nightmare minions above it., A Fire Mask resembles a Shy Man, with a few differences. Combat
Fire Masks are generally instructed to support the Shy Men infantry by firing their breath weapons at the enemy, and to continue to do so until the enemy is no more. If, however, the enemy appears immune to their fiery breath weapons, most Soulherders order the Fire Masks to wade into melee.


Breath Weapon (Su)Once per round a Fire Mask can spit out a small fireball. This fireball is treated as a ranged touch attack and has a range increment of 40 ft. If the ranged touch attack is successful, the fireball explodes, causing 1d6 points of damage to all creatures within 5 ft. and setting combustibles on fire.
Daze (Su)Like the Shy Man, a Fire Mask cannot exist without its cloak. If the cloak is removed or destroyed, the Fire Mask ceases to be, creating a bright flash as the perverted soulstuff of its being dissipates. This acts as a daze spell affecting all susceptible creatures within 5 feet. Caster Level: 1 Save DC: 11

Society
Like the Shy Man, these creatures have no society, fulfilling their orders and standing by when they are not under instructions.
