These are like voracious little piranha-about the size of guppies but with twice the appetite. They School in the thousands in fresh, or near-fresh tropical rivers and estuaries

A couple pair of razor sharp teeth with fins attached to move them around in the water is what one unfortunate survivor described them as. About the size and dimensions of a large guppy these tiny scourges of the rivers can easily kill an elephant within five minutes, and devour it within an hour.

Boats made of wood, skin, or other similar material have been known to spring leaks or even disappear in the water (along with their inhabitants). They are purely carnivorous and do thoroughly clean out any area of a river where they school, sparing the plant life, but very well scouring the area of any detritus or what would otherwise soon be detritus in their presence. In times of drought or other dry periods where they are found cut off in pools with no outlet they will eat everything in the pool including each other.

Combat
They swarm and bite! A man in full plate armor merely channels their invasion of his flesh to the places in his armor where they can get through. Leather straps and rope fasteners soon disappear due to the biting. A reflex save by the creature caught in their school may allow a creature to leave the water in time to save itself from sure death. Otherwise a creature in their water will suffer 5d10 pts of damage each round they remain in the water.

Animals have low-light vision.
