The Squidlarkin are a race of deformed outcasts of the Illithid race.

Mind Flayer reproduction is complicated and by no means perfect. Sometimes, a Mind Flayer larva is not exactly perfect. These irregular larvae do not usually find a host, but sometimes they do. The resulting Illithid is extremely weak and usually completely inferior to the standard Mind Flayer. The Illithid population loathes the imperfect mutants and they are almost always either expelled from the Mind Flayer community, or destroyed on the spot. This is how Squidlarkin come into existance.

Combat
The Squidlarkin lacks almost all of the abilities of its parents. They have no innate psionic powers and are much less powerful both physically and mentally. They do, however, retain their ability to devour their enemies' brains, though they suffer from a few minor deformities which lower their ability to grasp their opponent's head.

Aberrations have darkvision with a range of 60 feet, however, due to it's inferior genetic makeup, the Squidlarkin only posseses darkvision for up to 40 feet. -2CON,+2 INT, +2 CHA: Squidlarkin still posess remanents of their parent's mental prowess, though their mutations make them frail. Gain a +4 racial bonus on intimidate due to their frightening appearence and association with the terrible Mind Flayer race. They lose this bonus against other Illithids. Improved Grapple: As with standard Illithid, though they suffer a -2 penalty on all grapple checks.

Society
Squidlarkin are feared and loathed by almost all creatures, and thus do not fit into any culture. They are usually loners in the wilderness, and often take up the path of the Barbarian. They still posses some minor attunment to psionic powers and many Squidlarkin spend their solitary existance contemplating their denied place in the world and plotting revenge on all that shun them.
