Prowler lizards are pack hunters that stalk prey through the marshes of the Liaphon isles. Using the mists and thick reeds of the marshes as cover they attack weak solitary prey, or when hungry they will attack en masses to bring down larger animals.

The prowler lizard is usually about five feet tall, with a long thick neck and a lengthy tail. It stands nearly as tall as a full grown elf, but it's neck protrudes another two feet from it's body. Laid out from tail to nose it would be about seven to eight feet long, but has the same mass as a man. It's wedge shaped head has a thin wide mouth filled with short, needle sharp teeth.

They have long agile arms that end in three clawed hands. The claws themselves are sturdy and sharp, capable of slicing through tough leather.

The scales of the prowler lizard are a blazing orange striped with black. Typically males have a frilled crest on the top of their heads. This crest runs down their back to become a short fin at the end of their tail.

When not hunting, the prowler lizard is a proficient sleeper. Expending energy on the hunt is a tiring task, and most prowlers rest during the day. Most packs usually reserve the chore of hunting for dusk or nightfall.

Combat
Prowlers pounce on their prey, trying to take it down with their weight, while slashing with their fore claws. This attack usually knocks down the target, and once one the ground the rest of the brood will pounce on the target as well, subduing it with slashes and bites.

Magical beasts have darkvision with a range of 60 feet and low-light vision.

Pounce (Ex): Instead of attacking with tooth or claw a prowler lizard can make a pounce attack. This is a strength modified attack to leap on to the prey. If this is succesful the target is affected as if being trampled (See Monster Manual, special abilities). Shoud this attack fail, the prowler lizard is immediately open to an attack of opportunity from the target.

Society
Prowlers are pack animals, and when hunting travel in broods of 2 to 5. The pack itself is made of several hunting broods that colectively supply food for the entire pack. These packs are typically led by a large sized male, who in turn has several
